Both the vegetarian and non vegetarian foods contribute the favorite foods of the people of Bijapur. The flavor and taste of this city is assimilating with those of the other south Indian recipes.

This architectural splendor is said to be constructed under the seventh ruler of the Adil Shah dynasty, Muhammad Adil Shah. It

is located in a small town called Bijapur in the state of Karnataka. Counted as one of the impressive monuments in India, Gol Gumbad – Bijapur is largely visited by travelers from all across the world.

Also known as Gol Gumbaz, this architectural feature is famous for its massive dome. It is the second largest dome in the world after St Peter's Basilica in Rome. This massive dome measures 124 feet in diameter. It stands independent of any support or columns. The engineering behind the dome reflects the great architectural skill of the artisans. Even the faintest whisper inside the structure reverberates throughout Gol Gumbaz. You can hear the faint sound for nine times.

The four corners of the structure of Gol Gumbad- Bijapur have seven storied octagonal towers that are marked with parapet. The squarish structure of the Gol Gumbaz with a massive dome on top of it is a great example of the masonry. The whispering
gallery is the major attraction inside the structure.

From the gallery of the Gol Gumbaz in Bijapur, you can get an amazing view of the town. You will be simply amazed by the spectacular view of the entire Bijapur city. The dome of the Gol Gumbaz in Bijapur is really a wonderful piece of art to behold.

Close to the Gol Gumbaz, you will get to see a museum, Nagar Khana. This museum exhibits Chinese porcelain, parchments, armoury, carpets and paintings. A gateway and a dharmashala located nearby are equally interesting. The dome of the Gol Gumbad – Bijapur comprises the tombs of Muhammad Adil Shah, his two wives, his daughter, grandson and his mistress.

Reaching Gol Gumbad- Bijapur will not be a problem at all becasaue the town is well connected by train from the major cities like Badami, Bangalore, Hubli and Sholapur. There are several connecting trains as well to take you to this impressive structure. Regular buses also ply from various cities to Bijapur.

The tourists coming from the state of Maharastra and its surroundings can reach Bijapur via Solapur. Tourists can catch a train at the Mumbai railway station, which passes through Solapur and Hubli. The city of Hubli is well-connected with Bijapur; thus, the tourists can easily reach Bijapur via Hubli.

Tourists who are thinking of how to reach Bijapur from Hyderabad or Hospet can easily catch a train at Hyderabad that comes via Solapur and the Hotgi junction, the train from Hospet comes via Gadag. As most of the trains reach the city of Hubli, it is very convenient for the tourists to visit Bijapur.

The international tourists coming to Bijapur have to land at the Bangalore international airport. This is the nearest international airport. The city of Belgum has a functional airport but it caters to the domestic flights from Bangalore and other important cities. The Belgum airport is about 205 km from the city of Bijapur. From Belgum tourists can catch a bus or a taxi to Bijapur.

Tourists normally travel the ancient cities in the northern circuit through special excursions; the northern circuit includes the cities of Hampi, Hospet, Badami, Gulbarga, Bidar and Bijapur.
